Chongwe River Camp is situated on the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers, directly opposite Mana Pools, and looks out onto the confluence of these two rivers, together with the mountains of the escarpment to the north. Its location has been favoured by such distinguished African explorers as David Livingstone and Courtney Selous.

Chongwe’s luxury accommodation consists of large tented chalets under a thatched roof, with well-appointed en-suite bathroom facilities. At night, and often during the day as well, you will share the camp with numerous gentle elephants, not to mention the camp’s tame resident impala, Silky.

For larger groups, Chongwe River House, situated 1 km away, can accommodate up to eight guests, and has its own private chef, guides etc. A lovely swimming pool and a decking area giving marvellous views complete the picture. [cont.]

Activities at Chongwe include river cruises, canoeing and fishing, in addition to the usual ‘safari’ type activities. Although Chongwe is situated just outside the Lower Zambezi National Park, in the Game Management Area, the concentration of game is still immense, and access to the Park itself is only a few minutes’ drive away. It is also possible to walk to Chongwe’s new bush camp, to spend a night in truly rustic surroundings.
