Chinzombo Lodge is one of Zambia’s newest, and finest, lodges, and is situated on a sweeping curve of the Luangwa River, about one hour’s drive from Mfuwe Airport. It is the base lodge for Norman Carr Safaris, being open all year around, and actually replaces the iconic Kapani Lodge, which is where the legendary guide Norman Carr, the first to pioneer walking safaris in the Luangwa Valley in the 1950s, based himself.

This wildly luxurious camp retains its bush authenticity with grass and canvas walls and spacious living areas that melt into the exquisitely tranquil riverside setting. Each villa offers panoramic views of the Luangwa River and the abundant wildlife that frequents its banks. Sprawling, ancient shade trees and private plunge pools offer comfort and relaxation for guests staying in any one of the six stunning villas.

What more can be said? The food is wonderful, and the surrounding wildlife amazing. Chinzombo serves as an ideal base camp from which to visit one of Norman Carr Safaris’ bush camps located further into the Park.
